NKJV) Genesis 14:13 Then one who had escaped came and told Abram the Hebrew, for he dwelt by the terebinth trees of Mamre the Amorite, brother of Eshcol and brother of Aner; and they [were] allies with Abram.
At this time we will accept that Abram is the start of Israel hence Hebrew or "come from Hebron" is shortened to Jew as was used in Egypt to denote status in society.

| Genesis 12:10 Then Abram took Sarai his wife and Lot his brother's son, and all their possessions that they had gathered, and the people whom they had acquired in Haran, and they departed to go to the land of Canaan. So they came to the land of Canaan. Genesis 12:10 . Now there was a famine in the land, and Abram went down to Egypt to dwell there, for the famine [was] severe in the land. Genesis 12:14 . So it was, when Abram came into Egypt, that the Egyptians saw the woman, that she [was] very beautiful. Genesis 12:16 He treated Abram well for her sake. He had sheep, oxen, male donkeys, male and female servants, female donkeys, and camels. Genesis 12:17 But the LORD plagued Pharaoh and his house with great plagues because of Sarai, Abram's wife. Genesis 12:18 And Pharaoh called Abram and said, "What [is] this you have done to me? Why did you not tell me that she [was] your wife? Genesis 13:1 Then Abram went up from Egypt, he and his wife and all that he had, and Lot with him, to the South. Genesis 13:2 Abram [was] very rich in livestock, in silver, and in gold. Notice that the King of Egypt or Pharaoh had sex with Abram wife also other men of Pharaoh household but while they agreed that Abram was not upfront truthful with them Abram was encouraged to leave Egypt. Genesis 16:2 So Sarai said to Abram, "See now, the LORD has restrained me from bearing [children.] Please, go in to my maid; perhaps I shall obtain children by her." And Abram heeded the voice of Sarai. Genesis 16:3 Then Sarai, Abram's wife, took Hagar her maid, the Egyptian, and gave her to her husband Abram to be his wife, after Abram had dwelt ten years in the land of Canaan. Genesis 16:5 Then Sarai said to Abram, "My wrong [be] upon you! I gave my maid into your embrace; and when she saw that she had conceived, I became despised in her eyes. The LORD judge between you and me." Here we see that Abram had sex with Hagar the Egyptian maid in his household producing a son called Ishmael. Genesis 21:3 And Abraham called the name of his son who was born to him -- whom Sarah bore to him -- Isaac. Genesis 21:10 Therefore she {Sarah} said to Abraham, "Cast out this bondwoman and her son; for the son of this bondwoman shall not be heir with my son, [namely] with Isaac." Genesis 25:20 Isaac was forty years old when he took Rebekah as wife, the daughter of Bethuel the Syrian of Padan Aram, the sister of Laban the Syrian. Genesis 25:21 Now Isaac pleaded with the LORD for his wife, because she [was] barren; and the LORD granted his plea, and Rebekah his wife conceived. Genesis 25:26 Afterward his brother came out, and his hand took hold of Esau's heel; so his name was called Jacob. Isaac [was] sixty years old when she bore them. We can see that Abraham was grand-father to Jacob. Genesis 26:9 Then Abimelech called Isaac and said, "Quite obviously she [is] your wife; so how could you say, 'She [is] my sister'?" And Isaac said to him, "Because I said, 'Lest I die on account of her.' " Genesis 26:12 . Then Isaac sowed in that land, and reaped in the same year a hundredfold; and the LORD blessed him. Genesis 26:16 And Abimelech said to Isaac, "Go away from us, for you are much mightier than we." Look earlier and you see Abram told Pharaoh that Saraai was is sister and here again Isaac did the same. Genesis 25:30 And Esau said to Jacob, "Please feed me with that same red [stew,] for I [am] weary." Therefore his name was called Edom. Genesis 25:31 But Jacob said, "Sell me your birthright as of this day." Genesis 25:33 Then Jacob said, "Swear to me as of this day." So he swore to him, and sold his birthright to Jacob. Genesis 25:34 And Jacob gave Esau bread and stew of lentils; then he ate and drank, arose, and went his way. Thus Esau despised [his] birthright. Genesis 28:1 Then Isaac called Jacob and blessed him, and charged him, and said to him: "You shall not take a wife from the daughters of Canaan. Genesis 28:5 So Isaac sent Jacob away, and he went to Padan Aram, to Laban the son of Bethuel the Syrian, the brother of Rebekah, the mother of Jacob and Esau. Genesis 28:6 Esau saw that Isaac had blessed Jacob and sent him away to Padan Aram to take himself a wife from there, [and that] as he blessed him he gave him a charge, saying, "You shall not take a wife from the daughters of Canaan," Genesis 28:7 and that Jacob had obeyed his father and his mother and had gone to Padan Aram. Genesis 29:13 . Then it came to pass, when Laban heard the report about Jacob his sister's son, that he ran to meet him, and embraced him and kissed him, and brought him to his house. So he told Laban all these things. We learn here that Jacob was mostly of Syrian descent. Genesis 29:15 . Then Laban said to Jacob, "Because you [are] my relative, should you therefore serve me for nothing? Tell me, what [should] your wages [be?"] Genesis 29:18 Now Jacob loved Rachel; so he said, "I will serve you seven years for Rachel your younger daughter." Genesis 29:20 So Jacob served seven years for Rachel, and they seemed [only] a few days to him because of the love he had for her. Genesis 29:21 . Then Jacob said to Laban, "Give [me] my wife, for my days are fulfilled, that I may go in to her." Genesis 29:23 Now it came to pass in the evening, that he took Leah his daughter and brought her to Jacob; and he went in to her. Genesis 29:28 Then Jacob did so and fulfilled her week. So he gave him his daughter Rachel as wife also. Genesis 29:30 Then [Jacob] also went in to Rachel, and he also loved Rachel more than Leah. And he served with Laban still another seven years. Genesis 30:1 Now when Rachel saw that she bore Jacob no children, Rachel envied her sister, and said to Jacob, "Give me children, or else I die!" Genesis 30:2 And Jacob's anger was aroused against Rachel, and he said, "[Am] I in the place of God, who has withheld from you the fruit of the womb?" Genesis 30:4 Then she gave him Bilhah her maid as wife, and Jacob went in to her. Genesis 30:5 And Bilhah conceived and bore Jacob a son. Genesis 30:7 And Rachel's maid Bilhah conceived again and bore Jacob a second son. Genesis 30:9 When Leah saw that she had stopped bearing, she took Zilpah her maid and gave her to Jacob as wife. Genesis 30:10 And Leah's maid Zilpah bore Jacob a son. Genesis 30:12 And Leah's maid Zilpah bore Jacob a second son. Genesis 30:16 When Jacob came out of the field in the evening, Leah went out to meet him and said, "You must come in to me, for I have surely hired you with my son's mandrakes." And he lay with her that night. Genesis 30:17 And God listened to Leah, and she conceived and bore Jacob a fifth son. Genesis 30:19 Then Leah conceived again and bore Jacob a sixth son. Genesis 35:24 the sons of Rachel [were] Joseph and Benjamin; The Syrian children of Jacob were twelve sons of which the fourth to Leah was Judah which means " praise god". Genesis 37:28 Then Midianite traders passed by; so [the brothers] pulled Joseph up and lifted him out of the pit, and sold him to the Ishmaelites for twenty [shekels] of silver. And they took Joseph to Egypt. Genesis 41:50 . And to Joseph were born two sons before the years of famine came, whom Asenath, the daughter of Poti-Pherah priest of On, bore to him. Genesis 41:51 Joseph called the name of the firstborn Manasseh: "For God has made me forget all my toil and all my father's house." Genesis 41:57 So all countries came to Joseph in Egypt to buy [grain,] because the famine was severe in all lands. Genesis 47:11 . And Joseph situated his father and his brothers, and gave them a possession in the land of Egypt, in the best of the land, in the land of Rameses, as Pharaoh had commanded. Genesis 50:7 So Joseph went up to bury his father; and with him went up all the servants of Pharaoh, the elders of his house, and all the elders of the land of Egypt, Genesis 50:8 as well as all the house of Joseph, his brothers, and his father's house. Only their little ones, their flocks, and their herds they left in the land of Goshen. Genesis 50:14 And after he had buried his father, Joseph returned to Egypt, he and his brothers and all who went up with him to bury his father. Genesis 50:26 So Joseph died, [being] one hundred and ten years old; and they embalmed him, and he was put in a coffin in Egypt. Exodus 1:6 And Joseph died, all his brothers, and all that generation. (NKJV) Exodus 1:8 Now there arose a new king over Egypt, who did not know Joseph. Exodus 1:9 And he said to his people, "Look, the people of the children of Israel [are] more and mightier than we; Exodus 1:10 "come, let us deal shrewdly with them, lest they multiply, and it happen, in the event of war, that they also join our enemies and fight against us, and [so] go up out of the land." You notice that Ishmaelites from Abram's part-Egyptian son took Joseph to Egypt. Joseph caused his whole family to be in Egypt. That Syrian family multiplied to the point for Pharoah to become fearful. Genesis 38:2 And Judah saw there a daughter of a certain Canaanite whose name [was] Shua, and he married her and went in to her. Genesis 46:12 The sons of Judah [were] Er, Onan, Shelah, Perez, and Zerah (but Er and Onan died in the land of Canaan). The sons of Perez were Hezron and Hamul. Exodus 35:30 . And Moses said to the children of Israel, "See, the LORD has called by name Bezalel the son of Uri, the son of Hur, of the tribe of Judah; Exodus 38:22 Bezalel the son of Uri, the son of Hur, of the tribe of Judah, made all that the LORD had commanded Moses. Ruth 4:17 Also the neighbor women gave him a name, saying, "There is a son born to Naomi." And they called his name Obed. He [is] the father of Jesse, the father of David. Ruth 4:22 Obed begot Jesse, and Jesse begot David. 1 Samuel 16:19 . Therefore Saul sent messengers to Jesse, and said, "Send me your son David, who [is] with the sheep." 1 Samuel 17:12 . Now David [was] the son of that Ephrathite of Bethlehem Judah, whose name [was] Jesse, and who had eight sons. And the man was old, advanced [in years,] in the days of Saul. We see that Jesse came from Bethlehem and the Tribe of Judah. David is accredited to be somehow connected with Joseph father of Mary's children. (NKJV) Matthew 2:19 But when Herod was dead, behold, an angel of the Lord appeared in a dream to Joseph in Egypt, NKJV) Matthew 2:20 saying, "Arise, take the young Child and His mother, and go to the land of Israel, for those who sought the young Child's life are dead." (NKJV) Matthew 2:21 Then he arose, took the young Child and His mother, and came into the land of Israel. Therefore we can conclude that Egypt role in forming Jesus was central to His very survival much less to say that before the Exodus of the Tribes from Egypt they were born-there Egyptians of mostly Syrian descent. It seems to me that Egyptians then tolerated a multi-cultural economy. The offsprings of Abraham should give God thanks for Egypt. Footnote Joseph son of Jacob (Israel) was next in command to Pharoah in Egypt (Gen 41:39-45) Joseph's decision to withdraw the currency or money from across Egypt and Canaan then, store same in the Central Bank (Pharoah) of Egypt (Gen47:14 caused a barter system to come upon the people. The Egyptians and others traded for bread [food] everything, including their lands (Gen47:15-21). This is the earliest record of Centralized Government or Communism (Gen 47:25-26) across Egypt which was prosperous at worst. Reigion was upheld in Egypt *Gen47:22). Look at Gen49:25 and Gen41:38-39; it seems the Pharaoh also believed in the Almighty God. Egyptians were "enslaved" as were the Hebrew offsprings who were also Egyptian by birth. Exodus 10:1-2 explains why we NOW hold the view that Egypt was and still is a place to escape from or avoid. Many Egyptians who were not Hebrew left Egypt with Moses (Exodus 11:38 and Gen12:35-38). Ofcourse, the mighty men of Egypt may have left in the opposite direction to Moses; remember the Berlin Wall break down. |
